I'm a newbie crocheter. When I saw such a beautiful blanket in an "easy" pattern I was thrilled. I glanced through the pattern to make sure there wasn't some skill needed I didn't have yet. It looked great, no cutting yarn, no weaving in a bunch of ends, simple crochet stitches I already knew.
I was unfamiliar with the yarn but rushed to buy the bundle online without checking anything else.
About a week or two after I received my purchase I got an email that the pattern instructions had been updated. Specifically updated to say each row should be crocheted using a different ball of yarn with an contrasting color to the previous row. Use all 3 skeins at the same time and cut off colors to use later in order to reach a contrasting one if needed. I bought 4 skeins because I wanted it a littler bigger to use on my couch. Am I supposed to use all 4 skeins at once? I don't know, but it doesn't matter because I'm not up for the challenge of using multiple skeins at one time and pulling certain colors out of a skein of mandala yarn.
The pretty blanket I was so looking forward to will have to wait until I have more crocheting experience or patience to learn this method.
On the positive side, the yarn turned out to be really nice and soft. I'm scrambling to find an easy pattern to use 4 skeins on without creating funny stripes.
If I didn't like the yarn so much I would have returned the whole thing.
